As such, this gender-nonspecific series is constructed for sexual histories, whereas for the occurrences, these reflect the questionnaire. Note also that for occurrences, respondents were asked whether they kissed or made out, wherein sexual histories this was split into two questions, about public/private kissing, and as such, these two variables are only available in sexual histories (which a correspond privacy-nonspecific version constructed to match those in the per-occurrence data). Finally, under Relationships, there's a separate heading covering the sexual activities which ever occurred during the respondent's most recent relationship.

prior.hookups	This variable sums prior.hookups.with.strangers and prior.hookups.with.people.you.knew. As these were truncated at 15, this variable may be inaccurate in [15, 30] for individuals who reported the maximum in either of those questions.

virgin	The 'virgin' variable uses age at first intercourse, not num.partners, but you'll notice that the numbers here don't agree with num.partners == 0. You might also note that a tiny number of people who've indicated that they've had casual sex also report having had 0 partners; and a non-trivial fraction of these report just 1 partner. One possibility is that students are not consistently including casual partners in their count of partners.
